What is the number 1 thing I hear from dressage riders? Limitations from injuries in the past that will not go away. Issues always seem to arise whenever there’s any progressing in the saddle. We train to get rid and correct any limitations or weakness that compromises your peak performance. * I recommend to everyone to see a physician before adding an exercise program to your list of activities just to make sure nothing is “wrong”. The more you know about your own body, the more efficient your training will be! Functional exercises make all the difference.
In the video, you will see two different movement with the leg. One back and the other is out to the side, two different muscle contractions. Notice the leg control, it is hard not to make it one motion! Control over movements is half the battle. Trust me.. I am really tall. If no equipment like the BOSU Ball &/or balance disc is added, you will still engage the muscle around the hips just enough. I recommend to try all exercises with just body weight first. Try this for 2 weeks and trust that you will see the difference in the saddle!
